The Home has six bedrooms, each named after a
noted Commandant of the Indiana Veterans' Home.
Commandant Gilpin's Room
King-sized bed; two-window view of the front
and side lawns; next to the front balcony.
A Canadian, the ninth Commandant (193336)
received the Silver Star for gallantry in action from
General John J. Pershing for setting up a first-aid station near
Argonne during the First World War.

Commandant Haggard's Room

The fifth Commandant (190911) enlisted at
the age of 14 and was taken prisoner during the Civil War in
1862 at the Second Battle of Bull Run.

The seventh Commandant (192228) was a
native of Bloomington, Indiana, and a state commander of the
War Veterans.

A graduate of Purdue and a Hoosier by birth,
the thirteenth Commandant (194953) was an enlisted officer
during the First World War.

The fourteenth Commandant (195361) was born
in Lafayette, and, during the First World War, received the
French Commemorative Medal for his valuable service to France in the
Purdue Ambulance Corps.
